Richardson Periodontics & Implant Dentistry is a full-service specialty practice established in the 1980s by Dr. Harold Arthur. Under Dr. Joseph Richardson's leadership since 2012, the practice continues a proud tradition of delivering the highest level of care.
We combine traditional evidence-based methodologies with the latest advances in periodontal and implant technology — always in a comfortable, friendly environment where your questions are welcomed and your comfor is our priority.

A native of Tavares, Florida, Dr. Richardson completed both dental school and his periodontal specialty residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He took over the practice in April 2012 and has been serving the Eustis and Lake County community with distinction ever since.

What is a periodontist?
A periodontist completes 4 years of dental school plus a 3-year specialty residency intensely focused on surgical treatment of the gums and bone supporting the teeth — an on dental implant placement. Periodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
Will my insurance cover periodontal treatment?
Many plans provide assistance for periodontal care. We work with CareCredit and our team will help you maximize your benefits before treatment begins. We also provide a pre-treatment cost estimate as a courtesy before any procedure.
Why should a periodontist place my dental implants?
Implant success depends on surgical skill, bone quality, and your periodontal health. Periodontists are specifically trained in all three, delivering higher predictability and better long-term outcomes. Dr. Richardson can also address any existing gum disease before implant placement.
Why doesn't gum disease hurt?
In early stage, bacterial toxins cause silent inflammation and bone loss. Pain typically signals advanced disease — which is why regular screenings are critical even without symptoms. Your general dentist is required by Florida Statutes to screen you for periodontal disease at every visit.
